Interior Renovation of Coastal Maine Home

A complete transformation of an outdated house on the coast resulted in this stunning modern home, ready to withstand the demands of frequent houseguests and Maine winters.  The floorplan was reconfigured to add living space and an additional bedroom and bathroom, and to achieve ocean views from every angle.  A gourmet chef’s kitchen and a limited yet vibrant color palette throughout make this house warm and welcoming.  The home was completely renovated with all new mechanical systems and insulation.  Building materials were chosen for their low maintenance and durability, including hickory flooring indoors and nautical grade fixtures outside.  A fieldstone fireplace and newel post original to the home were incorporated into the design.  Millwork, Inc. collaborated with the client every step of the way, including in the design of a guest bedroom suite in a previously unfinished attic.  The dramatic vaulted ceiling maximizes the space in the bedroom and lets in even more natural light.
