A completely gutted kitchen in a Winchester Victorian features modern convenience and design while retaining the historical character of the home. A new bank of windows along the east side lets in plentiful morning light. Oak flooring finished in a light gray color, small-scale white subway tile, Pietra Serena granite countertops, custom white cabinetry and stainless appliances and fixtures create a soothing color palette. Glass front cabinet doors echo the French doors leading from the patio-style breakfast nook to the outdoor space. The challenge of fitting the plumbing, ventilation and radiant flooring of this high end and thoroughly modern kitchen into the framework of a home built prior to 1900 was a complete success.
